Abstract: This study evaluated the current condition of the preservation and promotion of cultural values of Khmer folk music. The study used sociological investigation methods, in-depth interviews, and ethnographic fieldwork methods. The results showed that the preservation and promotion of the cultural values of Khmer folk music in the south of Vietnam were mainly done spontaneously, via oral transmission between artisans and artists. Even though research into Khmer folk music, introduction of outsiders to Khmer folk music, and training have begun to be collected and researched, it is still very limited.
