Abstract: The study was conducted to determine the prevalence of gastrointestinal nematodes infection of goat and efficacy of anthelmintics in different regions of Tra Vinh province including Chau Thanh, Cau Ngang and Duyen Hai districts from 01 April 2019 to 30 December 2019. A total of 360 fecal samples from goat was examined for gastrointestinal nematodiasis. Overall, the prevalence of gastrointestinal nematodes infection of goat was found to be 59.7% from fecal samples by using floatation technique. The results of classification and identification of these parasites by using classical parasitological techniques showed that almost goat in those regions of this study were infected by Heamonchus contortus (58.3%), Trichocephalus ovis (47.2%), and Oesophagostomum sp. (12.8%). In addition, by the necropsied method, the infection of these parasites in goat was 74.4%. This infection rate was also parallel increase in the age of animals with 53.3% (under 1 year), 76.7% (1 to 2 years), and 93.3% (over 2 years). Moreover, H. contortus, T. ovis, and O. columbianum were also found in this method. Albendazole and Fenbendazole were used as oral anthelmintic drugs to deworm these parasites. The results presented that these drugs were safe to goats during treating. Notably, Albendazole (5 mg or 7,5 mg/kg body weight) and Fenbendazole (5 mg or 10 mg/kg body weight) were the most effective with 100% of deworming.
